Dear Readers,2016 was a hell of a year for me. I traveled to Mexico twice, spent a week in Estes Park, Colorado researching and writing Trackers, attended San Diego Comic Con to launch Hell Divers, and I got engaged to the woman of my dreams in Grand Marais, Minnesota. My writing also saw some major developments. Hell Divers hit the USA Today Bestseller list, three new Extinction Cycle stories released, and Kindle Worlds opened the series to other authors. Looking back, it seems like 2016 will be a hard year to beat…

Challenge accepted!

Before I get into the calendar for 2017 I’d like to thank everyone that helped make 2016 great. My fiancé Maria, wonderful family, and friends played a vital roll in keeping me sane through the chaotic year. Writing four books, buying/selling, and renovating a century old house was not easy.

The Nicholas Sansbury Smith street team and readers around the world also kept me motivated. Your encouragement, support, and kindness mean so much to Maria and me. Thank you to everyone that’s taken a moment to reach out to us over 2016. You are the reason I always try to write something fresh, and the reason I strive to always make each story better than—and different from—its predecessors. For those of you waiting on Extinction War and Hell Divers 2: Ghosts, I thank you for your patience.

With that said, let’s get into what 2017 is going to look like. On January 11th, I’m launching another Post-Apocalyptic series about the aftermath of an EMP called Trackers. You can pre-order it here.

Pre-ordered? Thanks! I don’t think you will regret it. Here’s a little background on how this story came to be. In early 2016 I was finishing up book five of the Extinction Cycle, and at that time, I thought Extinction End would be the “end” of the series. I decided to write a new type of story—a story without monsters, zombies, or aliens—about a different type of threat to our national security.  The EMP is, in my opinion the greatest threat to our way of life. Read Trackers to find out why.

Next up is Hell Divers 2: Ghosts. The book will launch on July 18th, 2017 in audio, ebook, and hardcover. The fantastic RC Bray is returning to narrate. If you haven’t pre-ordered, you can here. All I can really say about Ghosts is that many of your questions from book 1 will be answered, but there may be some new questions that arise in the process…

Many of you have been asking about Extinction War. The seventh Extinction Cycle novel will be out in November of 2017. I know that’s a bit longer of a wait than the other books, but there is a good reason for it. The Extinction Cycle will be hitting the mass market soon. This means it will be available to more readers instead of just Amazon. Some people might not like my decision because I’m pulling the books out of Kindle Unlimited, but to the fans, I think you will be pleased when you read book 7. In the meantime, I will also release a short story set between books 6 and 7 called Extinction Lost. I’ve had a lot of people ask if book 7 be the last of the series? To be honest, I’m not sure. If I can find a way to wrap up the plotline in a final book without making it six hundred pages, then yes. Either way, I should know soon…

Trackers 2: The Hunted will be out in June of 2017 if all goes to plan. However, I might be able to get it out even sooner. I’ll keep everyone posted on that one as well.

There will be more Extinction Cycle Kindle World stories launching in 2017. I will post those to my website when they become available. If you’re a writer interested in penning a story in the Extinction Cycle universe feel free to reach out.

Readers might also get a sixth Sansbury story in 2017, but for now I’m committed to launching Hell Divers 2: Ghosts, Trackers 1 and 2, Extinction Lost and Extinction War.

Still no news on any movie deals. There has been interest in the Extinction Cycle and Hell Divers, but I’m holding out for the right offer.

If you have questions about any of the above, feel free to reach out. Like my Facebook Author page for more news about my books, or sign up for my newsletter here. Those are the two main ways I communicate with readers.

Until next time…

All it takes is all you got!

Happy 2017!

Best wishes,

All the updates!

I don’t really blog anymore since I’ve been doing so many video updates, but I figured this might be a good time to brush off the dust and write something comprehensive that explains the craziness that is now my life.

Many of you that follow me know I’ve got more than a couple of series going right now. My newest, Hell Divers, published in July of 2016 by Blackstone Audio. If you haven’t read that one yet, you’re missing out on the most complicated post-apocalyptic story I’ve penned to date. For existing fans, I’m working hard on book 2: Ghosts. Reserve your copy here!

The Extinction Cycle continues with book 6, Aftermath (download here), and I’ll move right into writing book 7, War at the end of this year. You may have also seen the Extinction Cycle has also recently launched as a Kindle World, meaning other authors can come in and contribute their own fan fiction stories. The canon, aka the main storyline will continue with my work, so don’t worry. To learn more please visit this page, or the Amazon kindle worlds page. Major pain points so far are these stories are ebook only, and they are available only in the US. This is all Amazon and not me. So please, please, do not send me emails or Facebook messages about how I’m robbing you. I agreed to Kindle Worlds because I wanted to provide fans with more stories that I didn’t have the time  to write, and because I wanted other authors to have an opportunity to use my existing brand and reach new readers. No one is getting rich on these books. They are meant for your reading pleasure, and I gotta’ say, they are damn fine additions to my Extinction Cycle universe.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about Trackers. What’s that? Trackers is my next series that’s due out January 11th, 2017. I actually wrote this one earlier this year but hadn’t decided what to do with it until now. So again, don’t worry, it’s not taking time away from the Extinction Cycle or Hell Divers. This is the first story I’ve written that doesn’t have aliens, mutants, or zombies. Honestly, I’m a bit nervous. But sometimes the worst type of monsters are men, and I think you will see that in Trackers. What I’m telling you is be prepared for some Walking Dead type murders. No, there isn’t anyone with a baseball bat. The antagonist in Trackers uses something much more frightening. : ) You can pre-order a copy here.

Orbs 4? Yup, still planning to write it with Anthony Melchiorri, author of the Tide. We just have to figure out when we can squeeze it in, but I’m hoping that will be in early 2017.

So yeah, clearly I have a lot going on. But I assure you, I’m working seven days a week to make sure these stories come out as quickly as possible, without neglecting the quality that you all deserve.

Lastly, I do have openings on my street team. What’s that you ask?  Good question. I get that a lot. My street team is a bunch of the best readers this humble author could ask for. We have a closed group on Facebook where we discuss my books, promote my books, and engage in some other shenanigans. Want in? Send me an email. Only requirement: You must have read at least one of my books. Liking it would probably help, too. : )

Happy Halloween everyone!
